Rev part 6 and 6.b

Rev 6

To understand chapter 6 we need a bit of background and time frame, this is found is Dan 9:27

Daniel 9

24-25      “Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy. Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times.

Seventy weeks- a better translation would be 70 7’s

Seven weeks and sixty-two weeks- 490 years broken in 2, the first is 49 years to rebuild Jerusalem , Neh 2:5, Ezra 1, 6, 7 and the second set is the death and resurrection of Christ

26-27   “And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood,    And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.”

Messiah shall be cut off – His death.

People of the prince – Rome 70 AD is a foreshadowing of the wrath to come the prince is the Antichrist, who will lead the revived Roman Empire.

He Shall Confirm- The signing of a peace Treaty between the Antichrist and Israel (world peace) begins the 7-year tribulation

Middle of the week- First half then all out chaos

This passage explains in broad strokes the 7 year tribulation, it is the time frame and broad look

When will the tribulation start—with a peace treaty

In Rev Chapter 6 the seals start the first 3 ½ years of the tribulation. 1 Thess 5:1-11

Rapture

The breaking of the 1st seal is Gods wrath beginning to be poured out on the world

Rev 6

Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.” And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.

White horse. He who sat on it -The first horseman is the antichrist

White- Is associated with victory and peace

Horse- Throughout scripture the horse has been used as an example of power, and in Zechariah 1:7–17 it is used as a example of Gods power roving throughout the earth.

Crown- Greek for high honor, a victors crown, he was victorious in making peace

1 thes 5:3

When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.” Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword.

Red- associated with war, bloodshed and terror

Matt. 24:6–7

Granted -The rider has political power to create war

Sword-First horse has a bow but no arrows, this horse has a sword

When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.”

Black-famine

Matt 24:7

Denarius- an entire day’s work would be needed  to by either a quart of wheat or three quarts of barley.

one good meal or three lesser good  because

When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.

Pale-plague

Matt 24:7-9

Fourth of the earth- 2 billion people (current population is 8 billion)

This is a natural occurrence following a world wide war

This is not including all those who have died because of the 2nd and 3rd seal

What is rev 6 1-8 mean the “Four horseman”

No comfort

Physically

Emotionally

Socially

Spiritually

We cannot find comfort in anything but Christ 1 Thess 5:1-11

When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.

under the altar – Ex. 29:12; Lev. 4:7, 2 Tim 4:6, Phil 2:17

Souls- Not sprite but blood life.

They- the blood or the bodies of those whose blood was spilt, hence they were able to talk, and wear a robe.

And they cried- Able to speak, intelligence, understanding what happened to them, understood what was happening on earth.

white robe – A sign of victory preparing for the marriage feats

Until- the rapture happened but people are still being saved and dying for the faith

Rest a little whole longer- The end is not yet, but will come soon

12 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. 13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. 14 Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. 15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”
