Revelation 22

Revelation 22

22 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheadsThere shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

water of life- John 4:13-14.  This represents the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

clear as crystal- this is representing the purity of the Gospel of grace

proceeding-The source today is found in the Bible, Faith comes by hearing, but in eternity the peace, grace and love will come directly from God.

In the middle- it will look like this river, and then trees on each bank, then streets of Gold.

each tree –There are more then one tree, it would appear that there are 12 trees in total. Ez 47:124

every month– Every month we will have access to the tree of lifes fruit, also this shows that there is more than one tree of life, and finally it shows that on the new earth there will be seasons!

The leaves- These were capable of healing, in the millennial Kingdome, but not needed but still able to!

no more curse- In the new earth, there is no sin curse, all is perfect.

on their foreheads- That is to say they will be publicly known as his and vise versa

in all we see in this book, the churches navigating a fallen world, God judging the world and God ruling in the New Haven and Earth.

Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place.

“Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”

Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

He- the angel from Chapter 21

faithful and true– It is hard to believe all that is in this book, but they are.

Blessed is he- Rev 1:3 how do we keep these words?  Study them, read them, preach them, WARN THE WORLD

Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” 10 And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. 11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.”

Worship God– We worship God alone, not his servants.

“Do not seal- Don’t hide it away, don’t forget about it, but keep it in front of you.

Vs. 11 This is the eternal state, it is not longer up for debate or change.

12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

My reward is with Me-The reward for believers, paradise, for unbelievers, eternal damnation.

Vs 13– Rev 1:8 His divine titles

14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

do His commandments– Those who accept Christ as savior.

16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

Here we have Jesus titles and he himself sending his angel to show John the revelations, not someone who cannot deliver.

17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

Come-This is the prayer of the church and H.S This is a call to Jesus to come NOW,

Hears- Those who hear the message

Freely- The gospel is free to all but time is limited.

18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”

Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

For I testify to- I stand by what I wrote

Adds- We are warned that we should not add to

takes away- We are warned that we should not dismiss

He is coming back soon, what are you going to do?
