Revelation 8

Revelation 8

When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpetsThen another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.

seventh seal

the seventh seal brings 7 trumpets and the 7th trumpet brings the 7 more judgments.

silence in heaven

After the 6 seals we see God being worshiped and praised in heaven, with a multitude of people and angels, the sound would be thunderous.  Here we see the opposite.  Silance, before the storm.

seven angels

seven trumpets Ready to pour out Gods Judgment on the world

another angel

          1 Tim 2:5-6, Rom 8:34,           Jesus in the O.T

threw it to the earth

And the gathering storm is about to break, people know it is coming

So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

Hail, fire, blood

Hail is devastating enough, but with fire, more so, it plant life is shredded, creating kindling, which will feed the fire which will kill what the Hail misses.  Green grass, pastures, grazing, hurting animals, bounty of the land.

          Trentepohlia (alga)

thrown to the earth

Not seen on radar, out of know were, we can track meteorite showers, but not this,

a third

the amount of smoke this would produce is unimaginable

this could also account for the blood, (red rain)

Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood. And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

something like

This is NOT a great mountain, but it is like it, A meteor, on fire because entering our atmosphere.

thrown into the sea

John has been talking globally so we should take this as globally as well.

a third

Sea blood, like Egypt.  A third of the sea life, the stench, the disease, food stores

A third of ships- international travel, international commerce, national protection

10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.

a great star

This should be taken literal, not like a, but specific.

a third

Wormwood

God knows all the names of the stars in heaven, this is one of them.

          Ps 147:4

A bitter herb, good in small doses, but in large quantities deadly

Best to understand this as a star falling to earth causing  1/3 of the water on earth to become deadly when consumed.

12 Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.

a third

Sun, Moon, Stars, Day, Night, Here the sun itself is struck, this is a major problem for earth (Goldilocks zone)

The forest fires, the smoke in the air, this is not the first time either, days will shorter, less light, cooler temps, plant life dying, crops failing, crime, fear.

13 And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!”
