5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Therefore, having been justified by faith- Our salvation
peace with God- We no longer in opposition to God, but at peace because we have been justified.
through our Lord Jesus Christ- This is how we have our peace, nothing we have done, all what he did.
access by faith into this grace -before we were saved we did not have his grace.
we stand- our permanent position
rejoice in hope of the glory of God- we triumph in the fact that death is the beginning.
glory in tribulations- This is not problems that arise because of us, but trials brought on by God or because we are followers of God.
Perseverance- The ability to withstand and not give in
Character- This is what we do when no one is looking, the idea here is we don’t give in even when no one is looking.
hope- In the promises of God
