Romans 8:5-11

Romans 8:5-11

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spiritthe things of the SpiritFor to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peaceBecause the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

live according to the flesh- That is with no regard for God.

things of the flesh-their sinful desires

to the Spirit- That is according the the Bible/ HS The Christian life.

the things of the Spirit-That which is pleasing to God.

carnally minded is death/ life and peace-there is a stark difference in the two lifestyles.

Vs 7- the carnal is the opposite of pleasing God,  it is in full opposition to God, it cannot fill the law or even be under the law, because it wants nothing to do with God.  The carnal, though it many be passionate about doing good, cannot do anything good to please God.

But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

But- the above does not apply to us!

, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you- True believers

Spirit of Christ-The seal of the HS

10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Christ is in you,- The HS

the body is dead because of sin-Our bodies will die but our spirit is eternal

Spirit is life because of righteousness- not our righteousness but Christs, imparted to us freely.

11- we will, even if we die, be resurrected, this is referring to the rapture .
